Hardcore or Death, Durban
Brett (of PowerAge fame) and I communicated permanently and he offered us a gig in December’86 in Durban. Niel was not going to make it to the gig, because we had no money and no transport to travel to the other side of South Africa and after a practice or two with me trying vocals and guitar (fuckin awful!) we began looking for a new vocalist.
It was during this time I met Stewart Hendry. Stewart was from Manchester and it was not long before we became best of mates. , Stewart and Dead Joe had also starting their own zines. Stewart leaped to the occasion to sing for V.O.D and he had a very “British” way of delivering i.e. GBH which we liked a helluva lot. With 3 bedroom practices under the belt, we decided to hit the road and hike to Durban for the gig. But that is another boring story……..
